Being Greek

As you walk down College Avenue you will see huge crowds of people walking to or from frat row. Girls with high heels stumbles drunk down the street as they try to pull down their unnecessary short dresses. The community as a whole and even Penn State students look down upon the Greek community and label us as drunk. The sad part is those drunken girls and guys are usually not a part of the Greek community, but rather other students who go to frat parties and make us look bad. In this blog you are going to gain an inside look to what it really means to be Greek. I’m going to tell you everything from the events, recruitment, socials, bitty’s, THON, what it is like to live on the floor, and most importantly how incredible it is to be a sister.
There are many Greek events from homecoming in the fall to Greek week in the spring. Every week I will describe my personal experience in each event, but today I will just tell what events there are so you can be ready for it. The first major event is formal recruitment which takes place early September, there is homecoming, Greek or Treat, Greek Sing, Holiday lights, and Greek Week. These events allow us to grow as sisters and to bond with the other Greek organizations which is important since people believe we hate each other.
The next topic is socials where the frat brothers invite us over in order to get to know us better. At socials we dance and talk and it is like a mini party. The only problem is random girls also known as frat bitty’s because they always hang around frat houses tend to show up and try to catch the guys attention and it is really irritating. This is where we going to start next week’s blog.
